Here at Screamin’ Designs we consider ourselves sports fanatics, especially when it comes to baseball. It’s why we have a number of different sports-themed woodcarved novelty items up for sale, including our ball and glove piece, which would be the perfect addition to a baseball themed room.
If you’re wondering how to decorate a baseball themed room, then start off with our ball and glove piece. It can be used to decorate the room in a number of ways, whether you decide to put it on the door leading to the room, on your desk, on a table or on a fireplace mantel or shelf. The piece depicts a baseball glove holding a baseball. Underneath it, there’s space to have a name carved into it. You can choose up to 10 characters. The piece measures 6.5x12x0.75 inches and is made out of African Mahogany and finished with satin polyurethane.
If you’re looking for other tips on how to decorate a baseball themed room, we recommend focusing on your favorite team. This will limit the amount of baseball-oriented gear you can display and help to keep the room from becoming cluttered. When displaying memorabilia, like signed gloves, rookie cards and more, consider having a custom glass case made for them – or showcase them on your shelves. You also don’t want to take away from these pieces – which means instead of covering the entire room with the logos of your favorite team, keep some of the decor to more subtle team colors instead.
Use these tips on how to decorate a baseball themed room and pick up our baseball-themed novelty item to begin with. For more information about our novelty items, or about the Hope for the Warriors charity that we donate to, contact us at Screamin’ Designs today.
Here at Screamin’ Designs, we offer up a wide variety of beautiful wood carved items. If you are impressed by our designs and want to know a little bit more about woodworking in general, then you should check out some of the best woodworking tips that both beginners and professionals use for their wood carving projects.
The following are some of the best woodworking tips that you can use:
- Use a reusable sanding block – Cut out blocks of scrap plywood around 2 ½ inches by 4 ¾ inches in size. Get some cork tiles and spray adhesive to each side. Stick the cork to the block of plywood and then attach sandpaper using adhesive. Voila! This will make sanding down wood much easier.
- Avoid glue stains – In order to prevent glue stains at the joints of your wood projects, clamp together your wood pieces. Place tape over the joints, then cut them apart with a sharp blade. Separate the pieces, then add the glue and clamp them back together. Any glue that oozes out will go onto the tape instead of the wood, which you can then simply pull off.
- Use a drafting square for better accuracy – If you need to make an accurate square that’s within the two to three foot range, use a drafting square. Drafting squares are more accurate than drywall squares and more convenient than carpenter squares.
These are a some of the best woodworking tips that will make life a lot easier if you are working on a woodworking project.

If you are interested in woodworking, then learn more about it by checking out the following 5 facts about woodworking:
- History of woodworking – Woodworking can be traced all the way back to ancient Egyptian and Chinese cultures.
- Types of wood – Historically, wood carvers used whatever wood was available to them in the region where they lived. These days, wood carvers have access to all kinds of wood. However, there are three major types of wood. These include hardwood, softwood and man-made wood (such as plywood).
- Significance of woodworking – Woodworking has always been an important part of civilization. It was, after all, the primary method for making tables, chairs, carts and more for thousands of years.
- Cultural importance – The use of woodworking can be traced back to many ancient civilizations and cultures. Most artists back then focused primarily on wood due to the fact that it was easy to manipulate. Examples of how artists used wood include totem poles and decorative canoes.
- Tools – The tools that were used for woodworking were primarily made out of stone during ancient times. Eventually, the use of bronze tools replaced the use of stone tools. These days, most woodworkers use tools made out of metal alloys.

Here at Screamin’ Designs, we are huge fans of college basketball and sports in general, so it should come as no surprise that we are incredibly excited for the upcoming NCAA College Basketball Tournament!
Out of the 64 teams that eventually make it into the tournament, many of them have already snagged their spots and are just playing for seeding. However, there is one team that has locked up its number one seed, and that team is the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
With the deepest team in the country and star players like Karl Anthony Towns, Devin Booker and Willie Cauley-Stein, not to mention the renowned leadership of coach John Calipari, it’s no surprise that Kentucky is the top team in the country and finished up the untouchable, undefeated season after running through their out of conference schedule and SEC foes untouched.
If you’re as excited as we are about the tournament, we recommend checking out some of our unique, sports-related wood carved items; specifically our basketball woodworking patterns.
March Madness is right around the corner, which means you should get in the mood by picking up our 3-Pointer wood carved sign. March Madness is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like us, you can’t wait to print out that empty bracket and begin filling out your predicted results. This is one of the biggest reasons why March Madness is such a huge deal.
Not everyone is into college basketball, but when it comes to March Madness – they follow every game. Why? Because they’ve filled out a bracket and maybe even joined a pool at work. However, filling out a March Madness bracket isn’t easy. In fact, even if you simply flip a coin for every result, your bracket will most likely only finish better than 1.7 percent of those submitted to ESPN.
Filling out a March Madness bracket takes more than just guesswork. Here are a couple of tips for how to fill out a March Madness bracket:
- Check the games that each team has played before heading into the tournament.
- Teams that have caught fire in a series of wins are more likely to come into the tournament with a lot of confidence.
- Look for teams that have won against other big teams as well. You should also avoid filling out a March Madness bracket with your heart.
- Yes, your Alma Matter is in the tournament and you would like for the team to go far, but as a 16-seed, is the team’s chances at beating a 1-seed really that realistic? Not really.
Use these tips for how to fill out a March Madness bracket and bring home the big bucks while watching your team cut down the net.

There’s nothing quite like perusing over the NCAA March Madness bracketology form, trying to figure out who is going to get in, to who will advance.
If you’re not familiar with NCAA March Madness bracketology, let us break it down for you. The tournament contains 64 teams that are divided into four sections. The tournament narrows the playing field down to four teams, which go on to the Final Four and compete to take home the NCAA college basketball championship.
So, how exactly does a school get invited to take part in the tournament? There are five major conferences that send their top teams to the tournament every year, and several midmajor schools make it as well.
There tend to be a group of mainstays that make it to the tournament every year. These include schools such as Michigan State and UCLA. This year some of the favorites to win the tournament include Duke, whose freshman phenom Jahil Okafor is predicted to go first or second in the NBA draft next year. Kentucky has also become a perennial powerhouse under the leadership of John Calipari. This year’s team is one of Kentucky’s strongest teams in recent memory – not an easy feat to accomplish. In fact, they are undefeated at the moment!
As you can see, we are quite excited about our NCAA March Madness bracketology. For information about our unique sports-related carved items or the Hope for the Warriors campaign, contact us at Screamin’ Designs.
Here at Screamin’ Designs we create unique wood carved items that make a perfect gift for a friend or family member. These beautiful, intricately detailed woodcarvings can be displayed with pride anywhere in the home and will capture the attention of anyone that comes to visit. One unique item that we are especially proud of is our custom wooden family tree carving.
Our custom wooden family tree carving is a rectangular piece measuring 30”x 20”x 2”. Carved from walnut and finished with satin polyurethane, this unique item depicts a tree growing through the center, with branches spreading to the edges of the piece. Because our family tree carving is made of wood it has an organic look that’s stunning when viewed in person. It is sure to be a great focal point wherever you place it in your home. Besides walnut, you can have the family tree custom made from African mahogany or oak, as well. This wood carving has a unique “blonde” streak up the middle. This is due to the color on the live edge of the tree; the milled boards were then “book matched” to give this piece its one of a kind look!
So, why do we call it the family tree? For starters trees are symbolic for our family, as they grow in all directions but remain connected by the trunk. Because of this beautiful symbolism, the family tree could make for a perfect gift for your parents!

Whether you enjoy surfing, wakeboarding, or snowboarding, you need to have a place to stash your boards. Instead of just leaning them against the wall, keeping them in the garage or storing them away in your basement or attic, why not display them in their full glory? Most surfboards, wakeboards and snowboards boast beautiful designs. By using a wooden surf rack, you can display your board like a piece of art.
We offer several different types of wooden surf rack designs. We provide two types of double racks that allow you to display two boards – the Surfboard Rack-Double Natural (shown below) and the Surfboard Rack-Double Pecan. The Surfboard Rack-Double Natural is made from plywood and finished with satin polyurethane to protect against salt and moisture. The Surfboard Rack-Double Pecan is made from the same materials using a pecan stain. The dimensions of both are 33 x 19 x 5″.
If you only need to display one board, then opt for our Surfboard Rack-Single Natural or our Surfboard Rack-Single Pecan (shown below), which use the same materials as their double rack counterparts. Their dimensions are both 19 x 16 x 5″. No matter which one of our wooden surf rack designs you choose, rest assured it is durable and will hold the weight of your boards with ease.

The history of woodcarving goes back thousands of years, and we are proud to continue the tradition with our custom unique items, like our Jumping Bass.
If you aren’t aware of the rich history of woodcarving, then you’ll find it interesting that woodcarving is one of the oldest types of art there is. In fact – artists have been using wood since the Stone Age to carve beautiful pieces of art. The reasoning behind this is simple – wood has always been easily available.
Although wood is more vulnerable than other materials – it absorbs water and is vulnerable to airborne fungi and insects, making it degrade faster than other materials – its use can be traced all over the world.
Woodcarving was used in Oceanic art for ceremonial canoes, as well as by American Indians for totem poles. Woodcarving was quite popular later in Europe as well, especially in Medieval, Gothic, and Romanesque architecture – such as in churches and cathedrals. Woodcarving has continued to be popular even in the twentieth century, such as its use in folk art. Original artists used chisels to build their canoes and totem poles.
These are just a couple of examples of early woodcarving art forms. Be sure to contact us at Screamin’ Designs for information about our novelty items. We donate 10 percent of our after-tax profits to the Hope for the Warriors organization.

Then you should check out some of our many woodworking designs at Screamin’ Designs. One of our newest items, the woodworking knife stand design Knife Warrior, is perfect for the kitchen space.
